  11. <p>   Customs and Immigration: US citizens traveling as tourists
  12. do not need visas for stays of 14 days if they have an onward
  13. ticket. Visas are required for longer visits and for business
  14. travelers.
  15. </p>
  16. <p>   Climate and clothing: Wear lightweight clothing for most of
  17. the hot, wet period; medium weight clothing for the short
  18. winter (Dec.-Feb.).
  19. </p>
  20. <p>   Health: Health and visa requirements change; check latest
  21. information before traveling. Basic medical facilities are
  22. available in Dhaka. Pharmacies can fill simple prescriptions.
  23. Tetanus, typhoid, gamma globulin, and polio immunizations are
  24. recommended; malaria suppressants for travel outside of Dhaka
  25. also are recommended.

  27. <p>   Telecommunications: Internal and external telephone,
  28. telegraph, telex, and mail services are available. Direct
  29. dialing is possible to Western Europe and the United States.
  30. Bangladesh is 11 hours ahead of eastern standard time.

  32. <p>   Transportation: International and domestic airline service
  33. is adequate; railroad service is limited; road transport is
  34. crowded but adequate to most major cities; river transport is
  35. extensive.

  37. <p>   National holidays: Martyrs' Day, February 21; Independence
  38. Day, March 26; Bengali New Year's Day, April 15; May Day, May
  39. 1; National Integrity Day, November 7; Victory Day, December
  40. 16; Christmas Day, December 25; Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha,
  41. Muharram, Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi, and other religious holidays,
  42. varying in accordance with the lunar calendar.
